Happy World Oceans Day
On World Oceans Day, Tri Marine Highlights Collaborative FAD Recovery Efforts
In celebration of World Oceans Day, we’re proud to highlight our collaborative efforts in recovering Fish Aggregating Devices (FADs) in the Pacific Ocean to reduce marine pollution. Here are the projects we are most engaged in:
In partnership with the Pacific Community and WWF, we are actively quantifying the number of stranded FADs and studying their potential impact on ecosystems in the Western and Central Pacific region.
Through TUNACONS, we are involved in retrieving FADs in the Galapagos Islands, recycling and reusing them whenever possible. This initiative involves coordinated retrieval missions with local artisanal fishing associations, including vessels, crew, and support from authorities.
This day reminds us that safeguarding our oceans requires collective action. By working together, we can achieve our shared goal of preserving this invaluable resource for future generations.
